There’s no obvious shine, just a glow from within, if you excuse the typical advertising vocabulary □ Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders feel very light on the skin and they blend very well with whatever product applied underneath. All the imperfections (maybe apart from blemishes) are diffused and our face looks as if we applied the best instagram filter □ What makes them different is the way they make the skin look on application – very fresh, bright and smooth. But they are not fully matte, more like a satin finish that looks very natural on the skin. The first two shades mentioned are the closest to the traditional powders in terms of their finish. Radiant Light (darkest shade in the trio) – can be used as a bronzer for lighter complexions, or a highlighter for deeper ones.Incandescent Light (middle shade in the trio) – perfect subtle highlighting shade.Dim Light (first one from the left in the trio) – more neutral/peachy than Diffused Light and also perfect as finishing powder.Diffused Light (the one in the single packaging) – is yellow toned and perfect to use all over the face as finishing powder.I’ve got 4 shades that can be used for different purposes: Unlike traditional powders that use opaque pigments, they utilize “photoluminescent technology” – micron-size spherical particles that refract light and create transparent coverage.” Pretty big claims there, but in this case all the hype is fully justified – they are truly amazing. Hourglass describes them as products that “capture, diffuse and soften the way light is reflected on skin, brighten the appearance, and conceal skin imperfections, pores and wrinkles. I’ve been searching for a perfect powder for years and at the moment Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are some of the best in my collection. And then when we add too much powder, we’ll just end up looking dry and at least 10 years older. Especially if you have dry skin.įoundations for dry skin are usually very dewy and, sadly, not very long lasting on their own. As much as I like a dewy skin look, it’s very difficult to achieve a lasting effect like that using just foundation. Let’s talk powders today, shall we?
